119 years.
119 years have passed since the first edition of the 'Figueira da Foz - Lisbon Raid'. Its history weighs on the shoulders of anyone responsible for illustrating its 2021's edition.
This classic "Road Raid" is as old to my ears as that of an old car's roar. Hence, it was amidst feelings of pride and 'creative fear' that I embarked on yet another challenge commissioned by Museu do Caramulo.
This year's renewed edition, with the finish line placed westwards, at Estoril, sets off with the reenactment of the first ever Iberian road race - premiered way back, in 1902! It paved the way to the foundation of Automóvel Club de Portugal, an event which will forever feature in the pages of our national motoring history.
